some are less than equal

National survey of household income and expenditure2004-2005says ........
ST 8% POPULATION INCOME 5.2% EXPEND 5.2%
SC16.8% POPULATION.INCOME 11.8% EXPEND 13%
OBC 41.1% POPULATION .INCOME7.73% EXP 9.13%
UPPER CASTES 34.1 POPULATION INCOME 45.4% EXP 42.7%
Above table shows ST ,SC and OBC are poorer. In general these are  less educated ,more malnourished  and in lower paying jobs than people belonging to upper castes Crimes against ST /SC remain rampant particularly in rural india  .Police atrocities on them are also higher .Organisations working  for  social justice  like  ..'INDIA AGAINST SOCIAL CORRUPTION' and 'INDIA FIGHTS CASTEISM' etc, etc often work  on helping marginalised groups become more awareof  their  rights, helping them organise and protect against backlash.
one of the significant changes in the new india is the rise of  the right based approach to public goods. Now DALITS, TRIBALS ,WOMEN, DISABLED , OBC and many other section of HAVENOTS feels and demand all as thier right . THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION was passed last year . NAREGA came under RIGHT TO EMPLOYMENT.Assam has passed RIGHT TO HEALTH . Now FOOD SECURITY BILL is under process .RIGHT TO INFORMATION has also helped a lot to these groups.
